Wegovy Week 5 - Goodbye 12, Hello 11

Good evening all I am absolutely chuffed to bits tonight because I’ve finally reached a milestone I honestly thought I might never see again before I started using weight loss jabs; I weigh 11 stone something! I can’t even remember the last time I was in the 11-stone bracket, but if I had to guess, it was probably about 25 years ago. That’s a whole quarter of a century and to be back here now feels surreal. It’s one of those moments where you stop and think, “Wow, I’ve actually done this.” It’s not just about the number on the scales, it’s about what it represents: persistence, resilience, and a lot of hard work. Now, Wegovy isn’t exactly the same as Mounjaro, but it’s clearly doing something positive for me. Over the past five weeks, I’ve lost 3lbs, which is more than I was losing in the final stretch of my time on Mounjaro. That might not sound like a huge amount but, given I was concerned about whether Wegovy would work after using Mounjaro, even a few pounds feels like a breakthrou...

Wegovy Week 4 - Back On Track

Hi gang Well, my plan to increase my dose to 1mg worked. I’ve managed to shed all the weight I gained—and even a bit more. At the moment, I’m averaging about half a pound a week, which might not sound like much, but a loss is a loss, and I’ll take it. I’ve now been prescribed 1.7 mg for my next pen, which will be my twelfth, meaning I’ve only got one more pen to go before the study ends. I haven’t yet decided what I’m going to do once I reach the end of the programme. I never had a specific target weight in mind; in fact, at the beginning, I would have been happy to get down to somewhere between thirteen and thirteen and a half stone. Despite now being at twelve stone, I’m still classed as obese according to the BMI scale. To move into the overweight category, which starts at a BMI of 30, I need to reach eleven stone five pounds. To be considered a healthy weight, I’d need to slim down to nine stone six pounds—a figure that feels almost ridiculous for someone who hasn't been that f...

Wegovy week 2 and 3 - Bloating, Wind & Bunged Up

Hi gang I didn’t have time to post my blog last week as I went away for the weekend to celebrate a birthday, so I’m combining weeks 2 and 3. After a good start on Wegovy, it all came crashing down. My second week was one of constant constipation and bloating. My clothes felt tight and I was generally very uncomfortable. I managed to lose half a pound, but it felt like hard work. In the end, I had to resort to constipation tablets and glycerine suppositories to get things moving. The trouble with this is that it makes me pass wind constantly and without warning. There’s nothing more embarrassing than farting in public. I remember, when I was pregnant, being at an antenatal appointment which was really busy. I was leaning up against a wall when I sneezed and a very loud fart escaped. It was really embarrassing, but what made it worse was that one of the expectant mothers had brought her husband along. He thought he was hilarious when he announced loudly, “What was that?”. This caused gen...

My Wegovy Kick Off - Week 1

Hello all My blog is late because I went to Manchester for the weekend to watch the Lionesses take on Brazil at the Etihad – one of the stadiums on my bucket list. It was absolutely worth the five-hour drive, even though England didn’t win. I wasn’t expecting a victory, to be honest – we’re riddled with injuries and had several debutants on the pitch. The defence was makeshift, with Millie Bright retired, Lucy Bronze benched, and Leah Williamson and Hannah Hampton out injured. Khiara Keating made her debut in goal, becoming the first female goalkeeper of ethnic minority background to play for England – a proud moment despite the pressure. The match itself was a rollercoaster. Brazil came out flying, scoring twice in the first 18 minutes thanks to Zaneratto and Dudinha. England looked rattled, but Ella Toone drew a foul from Brazil’s captain Angelina, who was sent off. That gave us a lifeline, and Georgia Stanway converted a penalty to make it 2–1. We hit the bar twice and had chances t...

The Start Of My Wegovy Journey - A Pleasant Surprise!

Hi everyone - I'm back! I had a lovely holiday in Majorca. The weather was gorgeous, and I really enjoyed not having to get up early or go anywhere. It was all-inclusive, but I was still on Mounjaro and only ate until I was full. I didn’t really snack between meals either. Generally, I had either breakfast and dinner or lunch and dinner because I couldn’t manage more than that. As you know, I love ice cream, but I limited myself to one a day. I have a confession though — I drank every day! The hotel had sangria on tap, and I made full use of it. We had cocktails after dinner most nights too. I didn’t try the red wine, but I had a couple of glasses of white wine and it wasn’t great. The real test was whether I’d manage to refrain when I got home — and I have. I haven’t had a drink, and I haven’t wanted one. This is how I used to be with alcohol: only drinking when I went to a party or out for a meal. Hopefully, I’ve cured myself of drinking for the sake of it. When I got home, I wei...

My Mounjaro JourneyWeek 34 - The End Of Mounjaro

Image
Hello Everyone Well, here we are—the end of my Mounjaro journey. Not quite how I expected it to end and I actually feel a bit sad about it. It’s strange how I've come to rely on it. Mounjaro isn’t just a medication—it's been life changing. It's helped me control my eating and quietened the food noise. So yes, I’m grieving a little. Not just the end of a drug, but the end of a chapter. I'm a bit apprehensive about the change. There are mixed reviews amongst the SheMed community from people who have already made the switch. Some have had really good suppression but some have done nothing but eat. The only positive is that no one appears to be suffering from severe side effects. I’m heading off on holiday for two weeks, so there’ll be a break before I return with my new blog, predictably entitled “My Wegovy Journey” unless I can come up with something better. Sadly, I can’t change my name to Mrs Wegovy, but I don’t suppose that matters. Although if Wegovy works as well as ...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 33 - Eight Months Dry, Sixty Pounds Down, and Ready For Change

Hi All This is my penultimate blog about Mounjaro. After next week, I’ll be away on holiday in Spain for two weeks, and I don’t plan on taking my laptop with me. Trying to write a blog on a mobile takes way too long. I’m actually looking forward to packing my suitcase because I know I’m going to feel comfortable in everything I take. I've bought some new swimming costumes as my old ones where too big round my bum. I got them from Vinted for a couple of quid each. If you haven't ever used it, I'd recommend buying and selling on the app. I can't wait to wear them around the pool. I’ve now been alcohol-free for 245 days, which is eight months. That’s about 77,000 unconsumed calories—equivalent to over 38 days’ worth of food I haven’t eaten. That is mad! It also works out at about £900 saved by not buying wine, which has more than paid for my Mounjaro. And that’s not even counting all the takeaways I might have bought over the last 33 weeks, at between £10 and £20 a time....
