My Mounjaro Journey Week 33 - Eight Months Dry, Sixty Pounds Down, and Ready For Change
Hi All
This is my penultimate blog about Mounjaro. After next week,
I’ll be away on holiday in Spain for two weeks, and I don’t plan on taking my
laptop with me. Trying to write a blog on a mobile takes way too long. I’m
actually looking forward to packing my suitcase because I know I’m going to
feel comfortable in everything I take.
I've bought some new swimming costumes as my old ones where too big round my bum. I got them from Vinted for a couple of quid each. If you haven't ever used it, I'd recommend buying and selling on the app. I can't wait to wear them around the pool.
I’ve now been alcohol-free for 245 days, which is eight
months. That’s about 77,000 unconsumed calories—equivalent to over 38 days’
worth of food I haven’t eaten. That is mad! It also works out at about £900
saved by not buying wine, which has more than paid for my Mounjaro. And that’s
not even counting all the takeaways I might have bought over the last 33 weeks,
at between £10 and £20 a time.
I don’t really miss drinking. I’ve got used to zero-alcohol
gins and low-alcohol ciders. I never wake up with a hangover, I don’t get acid
reflux, and I sleep much better. Not drinking has really helped me lose weight
too. I’d recommend stopping if you’re struggling with weight loss. That said,
I’m going to treat myself to a few sangrias whilst I’m away.
My weight loss has definitely slowed down over the last four
weeks, but that’s to be expected. I weigh over 60 lbs less than when I first
started (remember, I lost 9lbs before starting on Mounjaro), but I’m still eating about the same. I might need to reduce my
calories, but I’m going to see what happens when I switch to Wegovy—it might
give me a boost. In any case, an average of a pound a week will still mean a
loss of nearly a stone and a half by week 52, which would take me down to 11
stone.
Skip this bit if you don’t want to be grossed out. I’ve had
some side effects this week in the form of constipation, which caused a bit of
pain in my anus—to the point where I had to use Preparation H and suppositories
to help me ‘go’. I did eventually have a natural movement and, I’m not kidding
when I say, it was massive! I’m talking about eight inches long. So long, in
fact, that it was already on its way round the u-bend but also sticking out of
the water. I was amazed when it happened again the next day. On the third day,
I had trapped wind, which caused a lot of pain, followed by diarrhoea.
I went to the first football match of the WSL season last weekend. A woman I know through the club was chatting away to me about the new players and which teams we should do well against. After about twenty minutes, she asked me if I’d had my hair cut. I said I had, and she looked at me and said, “That must be what it is. You look really different, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.”
I volunteer in a school and started with a new class this week. We’re not allowed to wear jeans, although multi-coloured dungarees and orange Dr Martens seem to be perfectly acceptable. Anyway, I decided to wear my new size 16 black trousers and a pair of heels. Big mistake. I haven’t worn heels for about five years, and now I know why—I ended up with aching toes and blisters.
My regular dates with Joe Wicks are going well and it's definitely getting easier. I'm not a lover of exercise but I do like how it makes me feel after. I have to make a conscious effort to do it which is probably the same for a lot of people. I'm not a social exerciser; much preferring to do it alone. I never understand how people go to the gym together and chat whilst on the treadmill or cross-trainer. I like to listen to music, focus and get it over and done with.
Anyway, here's this weeks stats:
Weight - 12st 5.5lbMounjaro dose - 7.5mg
BMI - 33
Total loss - 3 stone 9.5lbs
My plan is to sign off with my progress on Mounjaro in my final blog before I go on holiday. I’ll then return with a tan and a new blog about my experience of Wegovy. I’m hoping it’ll give a good comparison for people who can’t decide which to use.
See you for the final Mounjaro instalment next week.
Bye x
