Wegovy Week 13 - A Recap Of The Year

Image
Hello everyone So, here we are on week 52 and what a journey! I really didn't think I'd lose so much weight in a year. If you’d told me back then that I’d still be writing about this journey twelve months later and that I’d be nearly unrecognisable, I’d have laughed, probably while eating a cake. Yet here I am, a year older, a lot lighter, and with a story that’s been far more dramatic, hilarious, frustrating and life‑changing than I originally expected. I wanted to use this final blog to look back on the highs, the lows, and the major milestones that shaped this year. And what a year it’s been. I started this journey with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. I’d never injected myself before and the idea of sticking a needle into my skin was very scary. Luckily, I had someone to help me the first time and I also had SheMed to help me through it. After a few weeks, I was injecting like a pro, although I did have a couple of mishaps in the first couple of weeks! The early wee...

Wegovy Week 12 - The End Is Nigh

Hey Peeps  Well, I went back to work on Monday, which means I’m officially back into my normal routine and my usual eating pattern. Christmas already feels like a very distant memory. The return to everyday life also means something else: I’m now very close to the one‑year mark since taking my first ever weight‑loss injection. It’s strange to think how quickly the year has passed and how much has changed in that time. Sadly, next week will be my final blog, but my plan is to look back on the whole journey and reflect on everything I’ve learned. For now, though, I want to focus on the year ahead and what I’m hoping for. When I first started this journey, I would have been absolutely thrilled to lose around three and a half stone. That would have taken me to roughly 13 stone 7 lbs—my personal “comfortable” weight, where my joints stop complaining quite so loudly and I generally feel reasonably fit-ish. Of course, I ended up surpassing that target, something I never imagined at the be...

Wegovy Week 10 & 11 - Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Well, I’ve had an incredibly busy and truly fabulous Christmas this year, and now that the decorations are coming down and the last of the leftovers are disappearing, I’ve finally had a moment to sit and reflect on it all. I hope you also had a wonderful time with your loved ones and that Father Christmas brought you something lovely. He certainly treated me well — I got a bread maker, which I’m thrilled with. It might not seem like the sort of present anyone would want, but honestly, it's great that I'll never have to buy an ultra‑processed loaf again. I’ve already made a couple of loaves and the smell of fresh bread filling the house is lovely. One of the biggest highlights of the festive season, though, had nothing to do with presents or food. On Christmas Eve, I actually hit my target of a 5‑stone loss. I’d been inching closer for weeks, but with the study coming to an end, I was beginning to think I might not quite make it in time. So when I finally stepped...

Wegovy Week 8 and 9 - It's Nearly Christmas!

Hey everyone Five more sleeps! I started my blog last week but didn’t get round to finishing it, so you’re getting two for the price of one this week. In my defence, Christmas is just around the corner and life has been a bit hectic. Between work, social events, and trying to keep myself vaguely organised, the days have slipped away faster than I’d like to admit. Last week I didn’t lose any weight, but considering what I got up to, I’m honestly amazed I didn’t gain any. I was out on the Friday night enjoying a full three‑course meal and several drinks. Then, only a few days later, I had my work Christmas do on the Tuesday—another three‑course meal, this time accompanied by cocktails. When you look at it like that, maintaining my weight feels like a small Christmas miracle. As you know, I’m not much of a drinker these days. I gave up alcohol completely at the start of the year to break the habit of drinking at home. Not a drop passed my lips from 6th January until my holiday in Septembe...

Wegovy Week 7 - Party Time!

Image
Hi all I was genuinely concerned that after a week working away, I’d step on the scales and see a gain. So, with great trepidation, I weighed myself this week and… I lost one and a half pounds! Maybe I need to work away more often. That means I’ve actually lost more weight on Wegovy than I managed in the last four weeks on Mounjaro . This week I moved up to 1.7 mg , and it’s definitely hitting the spot. I’m struggling to finish meals and sometimes don’t want anything at all. That’s great news as we head into the festive period and party season, where chocolates and mince pies seem to appear everywhere. In fact, I’m writing this with a slight hangover, so I’ll try to keep it short and sweet! Last night, I went to a party—a proper dinner dance. There were three courses: pâté, roast beef, and ice cream. I barely ate half of each course, but I did manage two glasses of prosecco and three glasses of wine. Hopefully, two hours of non-stop dancing burned off some of those calories. I can d...

Wegovy Week 6 - Plateau Time!

HI everyone This hasn’t been a great week because I haven’t lost any weight at all. That said, I can’t really complain. Since starting my journey, I’ve generally had consistent losses every week—apart from the times I’ve been away on holiday—and I’ve still averaged over 1.5 lbs per week. That’s a solid achievement. I knew this day would come because plateaus are an inevitable part of any weight loss journey. It’s entirely possible that I won’t lose any more weight for several weeks, and that’s a fact many people struggle with. Plateaus are often the point where willpower falters, leading some to give up altogether. There’s nothing more frustrating than feeling like you’re denying yourself all your favourite high-calorie foods and having nothing to show for it. Plateaus occur for several reasons: Lower body weight = fewer calories burned. As you get lighter, your body requires less energy to function, which slows your metabolism. Exercise adaptation. If you’ve been doing the same...

Wegovy Week 5 - Goodbye 12, Hello 11

Good evening all I am absolutely chuffed to bits tonight because I’ve finally reached a milestone I honestly thought I might never see again before I started using weight loss jabs; I weigh 11 stone something! I can’t even remember the last time I was in the 11-stone bracket, but if I had to guess, it was probably about 25 years ago. That’s a whole quarter of a century and to be back here now feels surreal. It’s one of those moments where you stop and think, “Wow, I’ve actually done this.” It’s not just about the number on the scales, it’s about what it represents: persistence, resilience, and a lot of hard work. Now, Wegovy isn’t exactly the same as Mounjaro, but it’s clearly doing something positive for me. Over the past five weeks, I’ve lost 3lbs, which is more than I was losing in the final stretch of my time on Mounjaro. That might not sound like a huge amount but, given I was concerned about whether Wegovy would work after using Mounjaro, even a few pounds feels like a breakthrou...
