Wegovy Week 6 - Plateau Time!

HI everyone This hasn’t been a great week because I haven’t lost any weight at all. That said, I can’t really complain. Since starting my journey, I’ve generally had consistent losses every week—apart from the times I’ve been away on holiday—and I’ve still averaged over 1.5 lbs per week. That’s a solid achievement. I knew this day would come because plateaus are an inevitable part of any weight loss journey. It’s entirely possible that I won’t lose any more weight for several weeks, and that’s a fact many people struggle with. Plateaus are often the point where willpower falters, leading some to give up altogether. There’s nothing more frustrating than feeling like you’re denying yourself all your favourite high-calorie foods and having nothing to show for it. Plateaus occur for several reasons: Lower body weight = fewer calories burned. As you get lighter, your body requires less energy to function, which slows your metabolism. Exercise adaptation. If you’ve been doing the same...

Wegovy Week 5 - Goodbye 12, Hello 11

Good evening all I am absolutely chuffed to bits tonight because I’ve finally reached a milestone I honestly thought I might never see again before I started using weight loss jabs; I weigh 11 stone something! I can’t even remember the last time I was in the 11-stone bracket, but if I had to guess, it was probably about 25 years ago. That’s a whole quarter of a century and to be back here now feels surreal. It’s one of those moments where you stop and think, “Wow, I’ve actually done this.” It’s not just about the number on the scales, it’s about what it represents: persistence, resilience, and a lot of hard work. Now, Wegovy isn’t exactly the same as Mounjaro, but it’s clearly doing something positive for me. Over the past five weeks, I’ve lost 3lbs, which is more than I was losing in the final stretch of my time on Mounjaro. That might not sound like a huge amount but, given I was concerned about whether Wegovy would work after using Mounjaro, even a few pounds feels like a breakthrou...

Wegovy Week 4 - Back On Track

Hi gang Well, my plan to increase my dose to 1mg worked. I’ve managed to shed all the weight I gained—and even a bit more. At the moment, I’m averaging about half a pound a week, which might not sound like much, but a loss is a loss, and I’ll take it. I’ve now been prescribed 1.7 mg for my next pen, which will be my twelfth, meaning I’ve only got one more pen to go before the study ends. I haven’t yet decided what I’m going to do once I reach the end of the programme. I never had a specific target weight in mind; in fact, at the beginning, I would have been happy to get down to somewhere between thirteen and thirteen and a half stone. Despite now being at twelve stone, I’m still classed as obese according to the BMI scale. To move into the overweight category, which starts at a BMI of 30, I need to reach eleven stone five pounds. To be considered a healthy weight, I’d need to slim down to nine stone six pounds—a figure that feels almost ridiculous for someone who hasn't been that f...

Wegovy week 2 and 3 - Bloating, Wind & Bunged Up

Hi gang I didn’t have time to post my blog last week as I went away for the weekend to celebrate a birthday, so I’m combining weeks 2 and 3. After a good start on Wegovy, it all came crashing down. My second week was one of constant constipation and bloating. My clothes felt tight and I was generally very uncomfortable. I managed to lose half a pound, but it felt like hard work. In the end, I had to resort to constipation tablets and glycerine suppositories to get things moving. The trouble with this is that it makes me pass wind constantly and without warning. There’s nothing more embarrassing than farting in public. I remember, when I was pregnant, being at an antenatal appointment which was really busy. I was leaning up against a wall when I sneezed and a very loud fart escaped. It was really embarrassing, but what made it worse was that one of the expectant mothers had brought her husband along. He thought he was hilarious when he announced loudly, “What was that?”. This caused gen...
