My Mounjaro Journey Week 32 - Changing Seasons, Changing Me
Hi Peeps
Hopefully, we all now have a clearer idea of where we stand with the price increase and aren’t feeling quite so anxious. Eli Lilly certainly hasn’t made things easier with the way they’ve handled the situation. It would’ve made far more sense to inform pharmacies ahead of their announcement, rather than releasing a blanket statement that caused widespread panic. As it turns out, the increase isn’t as steep as initially feared—but that’s little consolation for many, especially those already juggling costs and supply issues.
I’ve just had the first jab of my final 7.5mg pen. I’d really hoped to move up to 10mg this month, but with the switch to Wegovy in four weeks, it might be for the best. Since I’m currently on 7.5mg, I expect to be placed on 0.5mg of Wegovy. Had I moved up to 10mg, I’d likely be bumped to 1mg of Wegovy, which could bring on more severe side effects. So, in a way, the delay might be a blessing in disguise—though it doesn’t feel like it when you’re trying to stay on track.
This week, I’ve had awful constipation—so bad I’ve had to use suppositories every morning. I also tried Senokot once, but that just led to stomach cramps and a bout of diarrhoea. Thankfully, I was at home: it took three flushes to clear the bowl! There’s no obvious reason for the side effects. I haven’t done anything differently this week compared to the previous thirty-one. That said, my weight loss has slowed over the past couple of weeks, so perhaps that’s a factor. It’s frustrating when your body isn't playing ball without warning, especially when you’re doing everything “right.”
On a brighter note, I started following PE with Joe on YouTube, and my legs and glutes are absolutely killing me. For those unfamiliar with him: Joe Wicks—aka The Body Coach—specialises in high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which involves short bursts of exercise (usually 30 seconds) followed by equal rest periods. It’s perfect if you’re not especially fit or just getting back into movement. PE with Joe began during the Covid lockdowns when schools were closed. I used to join in over Zoom with my grandkids every weekday at 9am for weeks on end. It was hilarious, motivating and strangely addictive.
So, I’ve been doing star jumps, sit-ups, squats, leg lifts, running on the spot, crunches, and burpees. Now, I’ll be honest—I can’t really do a burpee. I’m just not agile enough. But I do give it a go. I’m hoping I’ll improve, but it’s no big deal if I don’t. I keep the curtains closed so no one can see me wobbling and jiggling about; I wouldn’t want to startle any unsuspecting passers-by. There’s something liberating about exercising in your own space, knowing it’s just for you and your health—not for anyone else’s approval.
I read an article suggesting you keep your workout clothes next to the bed so you put them on as soon as you wake up. The idea is to get moving before breakfast and a shower. I’ve been doing that, and so far, it’s worked. It’s a small trick, but it helps shift your mindset from “I’ll do it later” to “I’m doing it now.” I’m also making sure I walk at least a mile a day, though that’s been tough this week with all the rain. British weather really knows how to test your commitment.
The weather has definitely turned autumnal, and my feet are cold again—so I’m back to resting them on a hot water bottle. I mentioned this in Week 10, and the info I found said it would improve. Well, it did… but only because it was summer and I was constantly warm. Now it’s got colder and so have my feet. I guess it’s just something I’ll have to live with. It’s funny how small things can remind you of how far you’ve come—because even with the discomfort of cold feet, I’m still doing well.
With the change in season, I’ve had to buy a whole new wardrobe. I’ve sold loads of clothes on Vinted, passed some on to family, and donated the rest to charity. It feels great knowing I’m in smaller sizes. Some of the new pieces are size 18, and some are even size 16. I still can’t get over how much slimmer I look. It’s not just about the numbers—it’s about how I feel in my own skin. More confident, more capable, and much happier.
