My Mounjaro Journey Week 26 - Halfway There!

Hi This week I hit the midpoint of my journey, which means I’ve been using Mounjaro for exactly six months. That’s half a year of sustained effort, small changes, and tangible wins. I’ve lost an average of 1.6lbs per week (0.7kg), which is a very healthy and sustainable amount. It's not crash-diet territory, nor does it come with the all-too-familiar rollercoaster of weight loss followed by regaining twice as much. What feels even better is that I don’t feel like I’ve deprived myself of anything. This isn’t like the restrictive plans I’ve tried before — no banning entire food groups, no cabbage soup, and no weird powder-based shakes. I eat actual meals and enjoy my food, which makes all the difference. Perhaps the most rewarding shift has been the non-scale victories. I’ve now dropped into the 12 stone bracket — only just, but still, 12 stone something for the first time in years. I can bend down and do up my shoelaces without feeling like I’ve run a marathon or twisted myself into...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 25 - Football and Health Successes!

Hello I'm a very, very happy woman. Not because of Mounjaro (although it does make me happy), but because the Lionesses beat Sweden in the Women's Euros. It was a really frustrating match to watch though — England were 2–0 down within 25 minutes and it looked like we were going out. Thanks to a couple of super subs, we managed to get it back to 2–2 in the 81st minute. That's how the game ended after extra time, and England won 3–2 on penalties. The Swedish goalie even saved four of them, but Sweden’s nerve let them down and four of their players missed completely. Thank goodness! Next up is the semi-final against Italy. Sorry if you're not very interested in women's football, but I'm fanatical about it. I've been a season ticket holder for a women's football team ever since it was possible to get one, back in 2018. I went to Lyon for the 2019 Women's World Cup, and I went to the Women's Euros held in the UK in 2022. The final at Wembley was one o...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 24 - Better Late Than Never

Hi Gang First of all, I owe you an apology. This week’s blog is a bit late, thanks to a minor surgery four days ago, which left me temporarily unable to do anything other than watch football and moan. And with the Women’s Euros now underway, my evenings have basically turned into a patriotic binge of shouting at the telly and pretending I’m a tactical genius. If you read last week’s blog, you’ll know I was a bit concerned about how much I'd eaten, but I still managed to shed a pound and a half. Since then, I’ve remembered to log everything I eat, and I haven’t touched sweets or chocolate. I have allowed myself some ice cream, though—because frankly, I love ice cream. This week saw two outings: my grandchildren’s Sports Day and their school’s annual summer fĂȘte. The weather’s been nothing short of glorious, so I braved shorts for one and a summer dress for the other. And let me tell you, it was lovely not to feel self-conscious about my belly or have my shorts bunch up from thigh fr...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 23 - Bad Times, Haribo & High Aspirations

Hi Everyone I've had a busy week so the blog is going to be short and sweet today; just like me. Now, I can't lie, I've had a bad week.  The suppression on 7.5mg is really high for the first couple of days and nothing in the fridge or food cupboard is tempting me.  So, I've been eating crap for the majority of the week.   I do try and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner but, with the exception of a breakfast, I'm struggling to finish my meals.  However, I'm still craving sweet things like sweets and ice cream so, this week, I've scoffed a bag of Haribo Tangfastics, a slab of chocolate cake and half a tub of Dairy Milk ice cream.   If I want to be able to maintain my weight once I've got to target, I need to be able to eat well and refrain from snacking.  At the moment, I'm not doing either and it's just as well I take multivitamins and cod liver oil. There's a danger of malnutrition whilst using Mounjaro so it's vital to eat a healthy, well b...
