My Mounjaro Journey Week 18 - End of a Challenge

Hello It's nearly the end of May which means my sponsored walk is coming to an end.  In fact,  I've actually completed it with a day to spare. It's been tough going trying to fit it into my daily life.  I've literally had about 2 days where I haven't walked at all.  On the plus side, I've discovered some open spaces in my local area that I didn't know existed. I'm planning on having a good polish & hoover through on Sunday because I'm really behind on the housework.  Unfortunately, my husband's allergic to furniture polish, washing up liquid, cooking utensils and hoovering so the poor lamb isn't much help.   It hasn't been a great week though.  I took Tuesday off and planned to take one of my grandchildren to the pictures and I was looking forward to a nice walk in the countryside with my husband in the afternoon.  What actually happened was that a massive traffic jam put paid to any chance of getting to the cinema on time and torre...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 17 - 7.5mg Is Amazing!

Hi Gang The blog is a bit late this week.  I've been really busy with work and my walking challenge is taking up a lot of my spare time.  I can't believe how much impact moving up to 7.5mg has had.  A three pound loss is not what I expected at all, although my suppression has increased quite a lot.  The main problem I've had is that I just don't fancy anything and even when I do, I can't eat much of it.  It's a good job there's someone else in the house or I'm not sure I'd bother cooking. Something that has returned is occasional nausea but it doesn't last long and I haven't had the horrendous side effects that a lot of people have had when they move up to a higher dose. In fact, I've been really lucky with side effects compared to some users.   I'm also very lucky that I've had a loss every week. I'll definitely get to a point when I'll plateau or even gain but let's cross that bridge when we come to it. I went to th...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 16 - Feeling Positive

Hi I surpassed the two stone 7lbs mark this week (2 stone since starting Mounjaro) and I'm chuffed to bits.  I've been trying to lose this amount of weight for about the last four years.  I just could never get in the right head space and only ever managed to lose about 7lbs before giving up and putting it back on again.  By the end of last year, I was the heaviest I'd ever been.  I'd started buying size 22/24 clothes and generally felt unattractive and unwell. The weight loss works out at over 1.9lbs per week, which is the optimum amount, so I'm quite surprised that SheMed have prescribed me 7.5mg.  I would've been quite happy to stay on 5mg.  I took my first dose this week and I've noticed the suppression is much stronger already.  I had planned on making a Hello Fresh chicken dish tonight but I've ended up eating two bits of toast with cheese spread instead. The eggy burps are back with a vengeance.  Let's just hope the diarrhoea and constipati...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 15 - I'm a different person

Hi Gang Well, I'm absolutely thrilled to have lost 2.5lbs this week.  I'm losing an average of 1.9lbs per week which is exactly within NHS recommendations. That's even with my holiday snacking! I've been prescribed 7.5mg from next week and had my last 5mg jab this week.  I'm a bit apprehensive about going up a dose because I've been relatively side effect free on 5mg but I'm excited about it too. I've really racked up the miles this week.  I've covered 24 miles in total but I'm knackered!  My legs are really aching but I know that my body will adjust and that it'll get easier.  Me and my husband walked from the hamlet of Finchdean, over the hill and into Charlton.  We stopped at The Red Lion and had a drink (non-alcoholic Strawberry & Lime Kopparberg; delicious) and then walked back again.   The beginning of the walk is a mile of uphill gradient, some very steep, but I managed to do the whole thing without stopping.  Before Christma...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 14 - Back on it

Hello Well, I was fully expecting to be telling you all that I hadn't lost any weight this week; even that I'd gained.  If you read last week's blog, you'll know I didn't bother calorie counting and did a lot of snacking whilst on holiday.  Well, I'm here to report that I still lost weight; not much, but a loss is a loss.  I had intended on talking about goals other than just what the scales say this week but I'll have to save that for another time when I need the motivation.   The experience has proved that Mounjaro does exactly what it says on the tin; it stops you being a greedy pig.  The science behind it is that it slows your digestion which keeps your stomach fuller for longer.  What I found was that I just couldn't eat as much as I wanted.  Even when I grazed, I still wasn't eating a huge amount of calories. One thing I did notice after a week of eating sugary snacks and very little fruit and veg is that my resting heart beat increased by a...
