My Mounjaro Journey Week 17 - 7.5mg Is Amazing!

 Hi Gang

The blog is a bit late this week.  I've been really busy with work and my walking challenge is taking up a lot of my spare time.

I can't believe how much impact moving up to 7.5mg has had.  A three pound loss is not what I expected at all, although my suppression has increased quite a lot.  The main problem I've had is that I just don't fancy anything and even when I do, I can't eat much of it.  It's a good job there's someone else in the house or I'm not sure I'd bother cooking.

Something that has returned is occasional nausea but it doesn't last long and I haven't had the horrendous side effects that a lot of people have had when they move up to a higher dose. In fact, I've been really lucky with side effects compared to some users.

I'm also very lucky that I've had a loss every week. I'll definitely get to a point when I'll plateau or even gain but let's cross that bridge when we come to it.

I went to the FA Cup final at the weekend.  I took a bag of sweets for the train but whereas I'd normally scoff the lot, I brought most of them back home with me.  I bought a hotdog in the stadium but didn't enjoy it. The bun was that horrible brioche type bread which is sweet & dry. Before Mounjaro, I'd have eaten it anyway but I ate the sausage and left the bun.  Luckily, it was about the footie rather than the food.

My team won, by the way.

Another win for me was that I wore my football shirt.  I've had it for about 5 years but it was too tight when I bought it and it stayed in my wardrobe as I put more weight on.  But, it fitted perfectly and led to some enjoyable football banter on the train with opposing fans.

My walks are getting a lot easier.  I did six miles along the Titchfield Canal Path this week and it was lovely.  The walk starts in Titchfield Village and finishes at Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve and Beach. There used to be a gorgeous little tearoom there but the council sold it so that a developer could turn the building into flats only rich people can afford.  It's a real shame.

I also walked 4 miles in Kingley Vale Nature Research.  It's part of the South Downs Way and has beautiful views from the top.  Of course, you have to walk to the top and it definitely isn't for the faint hearted.  Totally worth it though.  You can see for miles right out to the Isle of Wight, Hayling Island, Thorney Island and the Solent.

If you're thinking about taking up an exercise, I really recommend walking.  It's easy and it's free.  You can start small and increase distance and pace.  You can fit it easily into your day by getting off the bus a stop earlier or parking further away from the shops. You can walk during your lunch break and it doesn't require any equipment other than a pair of comfy shoes.

As you can see from this week's stats, I've gone from the 16s, through the 15s, through the 14s and now I'm in the 13s!  Only just but still:

Weight  - 13st 13.5lbs
Mounjaro dose - 7.5mg
BMI - 36.8
Total loss - 2 stone 1.5lbs
Walked 74.5 miles - 25.5 to go

One thing I have noticed with the increase to 7.5mg is a funny sweet taste in my mouth.  I've had it every time my dose has been increased so I know it'll disappear at some point.  The only trouble is, it makes me crave chocolate and sweets.  Just as well I struggle to eat, isn't it?

Until next time x
