My Mounjaro Journey Week 22 - Nevermind

Hello I'm now the lightest I've been in about 15 years and I feel fantastic.  I can walk without getting severe backache, I can do up my shoelaces comfortably and I don't spend all day fantasising about what I can eat next.   I read this week that GLP-1 medications can actually improve your moods too.  There have been several studies into the benefits of weight loss jabs and one found that it can increase levels of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine, which play a role in mood regulation.  When people talk about Mounjaro, the conversation usually revolves around numbers—pounds lost, inches trimmed, or blood sugar levels stabilised. But there’s another set of numbers that deserve just as much attention: hours of sleep reclaimed, anxiety levels decreased, and moments of self-confidence restored; because for many people, the benefits of Mounjaro go beyond the waistline and deep into the realm of mental wellbeing. And let’s be honest: when you’ve stru...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 21 - Protein

Hi all I've hit a significant point this week; I now weigh (spoiler alert) 13 stone 7 pounds. Why's that significant?  Well, it's the weight I've reached in the past with Weightwatchers, Rosemary Conley and that time I tried to survive on boiled eggs and grapefruit but, historically, I've never been able to get past.  The diet train has always well and truly derailed  About 15 years ago I did manage to drop below thirteen stone but then I went on holiday to Majorca.  After, marinating in sangria and snacks for a fortnight I was back to thirteen and a half stone by the time I got back.  I feel like, if I can drop below this weight, I might actually be able to lose another couple of stone by the end of the year.  The nausea has returned with a vengeance this week..  I've hardly eaten today because I can't face it.  Nothing tastes like it's supposed to and I have no hunger at all.  I've even struggled to drink enough.  I'm going to tr...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 20 - Not Acceptable In The 80's

Hello again Now, I don't know about you, but I've never really enjoyed buying clothes.  I think it's because, when I was young, the biggest size you could buy in almost every shop was a 16 and even they were tiny.  Since the 1980's, sizes have actually got bigger due to something called 'vanity sizing' where companies have increased the amount of material to make clothes meaning, what used to be a size 16 is now a size 14, what used to be a size 14 is now a 12, etc.  The only places you could get larger clothes were specialist shops and catalogues which were mostly used by post menopausal women.  The clothes were rarely nice and mainly comprised of smock like dresses. So, the upshot was, I always had a nightmare finding fashionable clothes that fitted and looked nice.  As time's gone on and we've got fatter as a nation, clothes manufacturers have upped their game and you can now buy clothes in sizes 8 to 32 in most shops. The invention of stretch denim a...

My Mounjaro Journey Week 19 - Non-Scale Victories

Hello everyone I keep expecting to plateau but I've been really lucky and had a loss every week so far. but I'm going to talk about non-scale victories (NSV's) anyway because it might help some of you. In one of my earlier blogs I mentioned the fact that we are obsessed with what the scales say but that's not the reason any of us want to lose weight.  Most of us want to look better or feel better and what we weigh is secondary to that. The SheMed Community has some brilliant examples on NSV's but my favourite will always be the lady who said that she no longer has to dislocate her shoulder in order to wipe her bum! I'm sure a lot of obese people can relate to that because obesity can affect your flexibility.  Personally, I used to struggle putting my socks on or doing my shoelaces up but I'm finding it much easier now.  I'm not joking when I say I literally used to limber up so that it was easier to bend down! Other physical benefits of losing weight inc...
