My Mounjaro Journey Week 4 - Oh Poo!

Hi everyone

I've just had my worse week on the treatment.  I injected my right thigh this week; I've really got the hang of it now. It was my last 2.5mg and, anyone who's been reading my blog will know that I've been pretty much side effect free.  Well, that all changed this time.

I was fine for the first 24 hours but I woke up two days after the injection with diarrhoea. After using the loo I felt fine so off I went to work.  Around 10am my stomach started making horrendous noises quickly followed by the need to get to the toilet.  Now, many women will know what I mean when I say I don't do number two's anywhere but in the privacy of my own home.  In 15 years of working at my office, I've used the toilet for defecating only once.  The only time I would ever do it is if the choice is doing it at work or in my pants; I'd rather have stomach ache and wait until I get home.  Yes, I know that's ridiculous but it's just the way it is.

Anyway, this was a toilet or knickers situation so I had no option but to break the golden rule.  Off I rushed to the loo and it was awful; like a tsunami of brown water.  I prayed no one would come into the toilets whilst my backside sounded off like a vuvuzela and was relieved when it eventually stopped.  I washed my hands and went back to my desk hoping it was over. It wasn't.

A couple of hours later I was back in the loo.  This time, after I finished and was washing my hands, the urge suddenly came over me again and I had to rush back into the cubicle.  It was getting ridiculous.  Given I had barely eaten I was wondering where it was all coming from.  I decided to skip lunch so that I wasn't providing my bowel with more ammunition.

I walk to and from work and left the office at 2pm.  By this time, it seemed like by bowels had settled down.  Wrong again.  Half way home I suddenly needed to go but there are no public toilets.  Short of knocking on a strangers door, I had no option but to walk very quickly, clenching my buttocks as tight as possible whilst concentrating very hard not to literally poo myself.  By the time I got home, I was sweating but I just about made it.  I had stomach cramps for the rest of the day.

The next day I still had loose stools and I was too frightened to leave the house. I couldn't do any of my usual weekend activities at all.  This left me very sore and I felt very sorry for myself and nervous about how my body will react when I go onto the 5mg dose.

My food noise is basically the same as it's been but let me tell you the most surprising thing.  Even if you decide to have a treat, you still won't be able to eat it.  What I mean is, as the week goes on food cravings return slowly but your appetite doesn't.  I went out for dinner with my husband and ordered beer battered haddock, chips and mushy peas.  I would normally have finished the lot and had room for a pudding but I barely ate half before I had to give up.  It's hard to describe but it just becomes impossible to swallow any more food.

From a health point of view I'm already feeling so much fitter. I'm sleeping better, I'm not so breathless and my joints aren't aching so much.  They say losing 10% of your body weight has massive health benefits so my first target is to lose a stone and a half and I'm well on my way to that.

So, this weeks stats are:

Weight - 15st 7lbs
Mounjaro dose - 2.5mg
BMI - 41
Loss - 8lbs

Next week I'll be able to tell you about how the higher dose works.  I'm hoping for full suppression but we shall see.

Until next time...
